Architectural thoughts

there is a maturation of my ideas now.
architecturally.
though i'm sure i have much more to do to improve.
but i think the choices which i was led to make were all God planned.

The racial and ethnic relations module help me understand the complexities of human behavioral patterns and why there are preconceived prejudices of minority groups.
and it made me aware of how architecture somehow is invariably affected by similar beliefs.

How architecture usually relates to the site.
and its geometry, demographics, history. etcetera.

i was thinking, architecture should respond more to the people living in that era. A truer and more honest response rather than responding to what already is there(ie the past).Of course there are buildings like the copthorne waterfront that seem to have no relation to the site other than to stand out as a grand piece of architecture.
The jiak kim bridge i feel responds pretty nicely to its surroundings. its shape is not only architecturally pleasing but it also responsive to the shape of the river. and its unique engineering design ( a bridge supported by 1 arch)also makes the bridge appear like a marker that indicates the ending point of the singapore river.

and looking back, buildings are build with a certain indication of power.
Zouk was a piece of architecture built in the colonial era?
ok i gota check up that piece of information

found this really good website

um
william morgan.
a very interesting architect.marlon blackwell and james cutler
can you think of a similarity between all of them?

yea..
their architecture are concerned with nature.
integrating nature with the environment.
and the thing that i find about wanting to study an architect and his approach to material and structure is that.. the approach of one architect is not very different.. from the other.

there are givens in architecture
when considering site and context.
understanding of the site,
the geography of the site, its history,
the budget, the function of the building,
coupled with safety, and the capacity,
are all given.
How are people supposed to be housed.
that is also factored in
and the structure of the buildling also has to be taken into consideration when an architect wants to decide how people are going to be housed in it.

wooden architecture.

for a material such as wood.
due to the limitation affixed to it because of its limited strength in relation to other materials such as steel, wood is not used in the structure of mega structures such as sky scrapers.
its physical limitations thus dictate that wood can only go so far as a structural material.

however, wood has a richness in conveying meaning like no other material can.
especially in the context of a natural environment, wood as a primary strutural material seems like the logical choice. It blends into the surroundings much better than concrete or steel. Glass, though not often a

enough of babbling.. start with the work..

In the first week, students are required to select an architect and study the architects approach to architecture in terms of site and context. The students are to do research, analysis, and documentation to be presented in One A1 and models if necessary. The A1 presentation should show with clarity the study on the architects’ approach to site, lay out and manual lettering will be also be assessed.

Starting the second week, students are required to select an architect, it could be the same architect as the one chosen for the site and context, to study and analyze, document how the architect approach material and structure to make architecture. This research, analysis, and documentation has to be presented in One A1 and models as necessary. The A1 presentation should show with clarity the study on the architects’ approach to site, lay out and manual lettering will be also be assessed.

OK..
HOW the architect approaches material
choosing material.

Ok... steps..

what have i done..
i've done site and context so far.
Study

What i have to do.
Answer how an architect approaches material and structure to make architecture
Materiality:
-choose material & structure(done)
-choose architect
-choose two comparitive studies
-choose theme
-choose media of expression(painting, texture, feeling, emotions evoked, pencil, words,
-choose

Material and structure.

at e end of the day what is your idea'?
